Matilde takes us on a journey through her childhood in Greece.
Matilde’s mother, Bibi, is a Danish painter who travelled, painted and lived in Greece from the 1960’s.
We will hear repertoire by composers inspired by Greece and excepts from Bibi’ diaries describing her life and travels here with 2 small children.

Matilde Wallevik is Danish but lived and travelled mainly in Greece throughout childhood and speaks seven languages. She loved listening to the Greek songs and music surrounding her and it was in fact in this repertoire that she discovered her love of music and her voice.
She studied Greek Philology at the University of Copenhagen and Singing at The Royal Danish Conservatoire before going to the UK to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Matilde made her debut as Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte at the Tiroler Landeteater in Innsbruck.
Early operatic credits include the world premiere of Anacleto Morones at the Spoleto Contemporary Music Festival, Armindo in Handel’s Partenope, the title role in Holst’s Savitri, and, for Britten-Pears Opera, Bianca, The Rape of Lucretia and Florence Pike Albert Herring. In 1998 she was one
of the winners of the European Union Opera Competition in Baden-Baden.
She has sung Waltraute, Die Walküre and Flosshilde, Das Reinhold for the Wagner Society, and was a finalist in the Bayreuth Wagner competition.
Matilde’s numerous operatic roles include Carmen (title role), Cherubino, Le nozze di Figaro, Niklausse, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, and Prince Orlofsky, Die Fledermaus.
Matilde also performed in the final season of the Batignano Festival, Tuscany as Dardano in Handel’s Amadigi to great critical acclaim.
For the last 10 years Matilde has been an ensemble member at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen and her voice has emerged and developed suited for the more dramatic mezzo repertoire. Roles have included Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera, Berta in Barbiere di Seviglia, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Flora in La Traviata. She has worked with conductors such as Antonio Pappano, Paolo Carignani, Lionel Friend, Steven Moore and Tony Legge.
Matilde’s concert repertoire includes Elgar’s Sea Pictures and Duparc Orchestral Songs, Wagner’s Wesendonk lieder and extensive concerts of Sibelius songs.

panos galanopoulosPianist Panos Galanopoulos, first appeared in concerts as a collaborative pianist. Since 2012 he appeared in solo, chamber music and song recitals, opera productions in various Greek cities and Vienna. He took his piano diploma with honours next to piano professor Dino Mastroyiannis, and he continued his studies as a collaborative pianist in the Vienna State Opera, next to the American pianist Kristin Okerlund. In Vienna he also took lesson in art song with Ralf Heiber, gave concerts as a piano duo with the conductor Anastasios Strikos and worked in the Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra (ÖRF). He has also attended Colla Voce workshop under the guidance of Christos Marinos and took part in conducting seminars.
Today he is studying solo piano repertoire with the great piano soloist Dora Bakopoulos and he is also studying piano next to Efi Papathomaidi. For the near future he is preparing song and chamber music recitals with various musician for Greece and abroad and solo recitals.
He is teaching piano and he coaches opera singers in Volos Municipal Conservatory under the annual “Interpretation of Lyric Song” workshop.
He has also studied History Archaeology and Social Anthropology in the university of Thessaly and from 2013 to 2019 he was a radio producer in the local station, and in the Third Programme of HBC.
